Superfood Pancakes

We have some super exciting news. We listened to your comments, and your prayers have been answered- we are going to begin launching a breakfast range! Breakfast is perhaps the most important meal of the day, so we wanted to create some nutritiously delicious food to kickstart your day in the healthiest and tastiest way!
First up is Superfood Pancakes. We all love pancakes, and we believe that they shouldn’t be reserved to Pancake Day and should be enjoyed all year round. But wait- how are pancakes a healthy option?
Well… we’ve concocted our very own superfood solution and below is an explanation of the benefits of each ingredient.


Rolled Oats
Oh my oats do these taste good! Rolled oats contain a type of fibre called beta-glucan which lowers our cholesterol levels and is great for heart health. It also decelerates the absorption of sugar into our blood, as they give a steady release of sugar in the gut. Rolled oats are a perfect ingredient to include in your breakfast as they slowly release energy throughout the day.

These are an egg-cellent source of high quality protein. Protein is one of the major players in the human body, as they are necessary for building tissue in your bones, organs, muscles and skin. Protein is a filling macronutrient, meaning that eggs keep you fuller for longer.
Eggs are also a source of Vitamin D which keeps your immune system strong

Chia Seeds
These seeds are packed with so much goodness and contain insoluble fibre and keeps your digestive system healthy.  The essential fatty acids are a source of omega-3 fatty acids which protect against heart disease.
Chia seeds are rich in the mineral magnesium, which keeps your heart and nervous system healthy and helps your muscles to relax.

Flaxseeds also contain omega-3 fatty acids which reduces the risk of heart disease. They contain soluble and insoluble fibre which is good news for our digestive system! Flaxseeds are a fab source of calcium, which is essential for strong teeth and bones. The mineral potassium is also present in flaxseeds which helps the transmission of nerve impulses and keeps your heart beating! (obviously a huge bonus!)

Cinnamon contains antioxidants which can help to protect the body from disease, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps to avoid spikes in blood sugar levels, as this super spice can slow the absorption of sugar, keeping your energy levels balanced. Some studies show that by consuming cinnamon you may be able to reduce your blood pressure.

Sultanas are a source of potassium which lower our blood pressure and maintains optimal nerve and muscle function.


So, as you can see every ingredient is nutritiously delicious and helps your body on its journey to greatness (and healthiness).
