Asian Chicken Noodles

This is one of our best-selling dishes, and it’s easy to see why. This week we’re going to be breaking down Asian Chicken Noodles and explaining why each specially chosen ingredient is good for you! We love superfoods, which is why every meal is packed full of them- the health benefits are too good to ignore! At only 367 calories and 25g of protein, these noodles with a twist are the perfect healthy, quick and easy option!

Whole Wheat Noodles in Sesame Oil
Whole wheat noodles are a healthy way to enjoy a filling meal, as the important nutritional elements of the grain are left intact. Whole wheat has super high levels of manganese, which is essential in supporting bodily functions such as nerve health and energy production. Whole wheat is rich in B6, which helps to convert food into usable energy (great news!). Insoluble fibre and soluble fibre are also present, insoluble fibre helps speed the passage of material through the gut and soluble fibre helps reduce our cholesterol levels and slow the release of sugar into the blood.

Chargrilled Chicken
Chicken is packed to the brim with protein, and is an important building block which is needed for our bodies.  Protein is important to include in our diets as it stabilises our blood sugar levels and has anti-ageing benefits, as poultry protects our body against muscle wastage. Chicken is low in fat and high in protein, and is loaded with B vitamins which keeps your blood healthy and reduces tiredness.

Black Beans
These little guys are high in fibre, which helps to maintain our bowel health as well as lowering our cholesterol levels. They are a great source of manganese, which helps many chemical processes in the body such as energy production. Manganese also helps to control our blood sugar levels and prevents osteoporosis.

Edamame Beans
These beans are a plant based protein, and contain more protein than any other bean (it’s the bean that rules all). Edamame beans are a great source of Vitamin K, which is needed for blood clotting as it helps our wounds to heal properly.

Ginger
It contains 14 phytochemicals, and many have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It can also relieve nausea (no more hangovers or travel sickness for us!) and can help reduce digestive problems such as indigestion and bloating. It is a great source of copper, a micronutrient which is super important to build healthy bones, blood and nervous system.

Red Pepper
Peppers are an enormous source of Vitamin C, which is great at keeping our skin glowing! This is because Vitamin C creates collagen, a protein which is essential for healthy teeth, gums, and bones. Vitamin C is also  necessary to keep our immune system in tip-top condition.

Sweetcorn
Sweetcorn is rich in the lutein, an antioxidant that protects your eyes and skin.

Carrot Batons
This veggie staple is a fab source of vitamin A, which encourages the growth and development of healthy skin, eyes and our immune system. The phytochemical beta-carotene is also present in carrots, and has been linked to reducing the risk of cancers. Beta-carotene is also important for maintaining eye health (Mum was kind of right when she said eating carrots would help you see in the dark).

Spring Onions
This veggie contains vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals which do wonders for your body! Onions contain a type of fibre that also doubles up as a probiotic, which allows friendly bacteria to grow in the bowel. Onions are also host to a phytochemical called quercetin, which stops bad cholesterol from forming in your arteries and may also prevent cancer cells growing in your body.

Nutrients
Our meals are packed with nutrients which are essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Many of the ingredients meet or surpass your RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance). To begin with, Asian Chicken Noodles provides 126% of your RDA of Manganese, which enables many chemical processes to take place in our bodies, such as energy production. This fab mineral also helps to prevent osteoporosis and controls our blood-sugar levels.
Our Big Bite also contains 75% of your RDA of Selenium, which reduces the risk of cancer and can help to lower cholesterol levels. Selenium is also great at maintaining a healthy immune system.
